Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item upgrades is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item upgrader kit will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Item upgraders can be found in many places including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
