Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also increase bonuses such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will be able to gain an additional 3% of the previous damage every time it is upgraded.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix changing the name of the equipment with the upgrade (for instancefor example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, allowing players to create stronger versions using fewer upgrade crystals than they require to achieve the same level with normal methods.

A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by buying them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

The player can have up to five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of the item will appear in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're uncertain of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be expensive and it's possible that the item will eventually become obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Certain upgrades also provide a bonus if they are reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs are upgraded in various ways, and we recommend getting them to level 15 as soon as possible.

In the final game you'll often discover that the best way to improve your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded up to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

Each Glyph has a certain range of values it can improve a statistic by. The value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with a different Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.

There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the many Glyphs as well as some rare Glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

When you have the desired Glyphs You will need to place them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that boosts the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

Glyphs increase the number of nodes connected to them, therefore it is Best item upgrade to place Glyphs in strategic places on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For example that a Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, however, you may also want to consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.

Leveling

The item upgrading system lets players increase the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each level of an item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in a crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe yields some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.

When an individual player upgrade an item, the base item will be replaced by an item that is new. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will also come with a bonus of its own. This could be a drawback in that it could cause the item upgrader kit to become more expensive if you do not require it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This can be beneficial however it shouldn't be done often as it could waste resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled several times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their equipment. An excellent example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or is able to swim like dolphins). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the maximum roll by a factor of 10. This item is very valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version could be worth up to 50x the value of its non-upgraded version.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to increase the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapons will increase the base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.

All items can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Every time you upgrade an object, it is at risk of failing. The rate of failure increases as you go over the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to return to its initial state which means that the player has to purchase more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.

If an item does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item upgrader mod will be deducted any gained bonuses such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or reload speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in the chance of crit the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from standard gear. For instance, they may need fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Players will still have to take each piece of gear they want to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each equipment upgrade requires an individual amount of ingredients needed to upgrade.
