Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app also gives access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
