Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also increase bonuses like damage from PvE and crit chance.

For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to provide them with a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment that has a slot. The item upgrades must be at least upgraded to blue level before a component can be used. An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the equipment with which it is applied (for instancethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with fewer Upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using standard methods.

A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence attributes of a weapon, or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them from the cash shop or collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player is able to have up to five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-level version of the item will appear during the next reset.
