Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.

For instance an item with the upgrade template that ends in % will take on 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades also have special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be applied. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear that is ascended or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade can have a prefix or suffix changing the name of the equipment to the upgrade (for examplefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of that equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist These upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.

Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of an item will be available at the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear even if they are unsure how much it will be improved after an update.

The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process could be expensive, and there is a substantial risk that the item may be obsolete or even break if it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the risk of failure. Glyphs

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and re-place.

Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a stat by, and the value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the numerous Glyphs, and there are also a few rare glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in crafting tables. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you'll be able to claim your upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When the player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a new item of the same type. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This could be a problem in that it could cause the item to become more expensive if you do not need it.

If the player has enough tokens they can reroll item upgrades. This causes the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will have the level 1 base, and a totally different set of extra bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it's not something that should be repeated often, as it can waste many resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, since it grants an increase in power if the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the maximum roll by 10 points. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP as a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.

Requirements

The failure rate increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to go to its initial state, which will force the user to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. In addition the item will be deducted any bonus it earned such as crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or reload speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied in order from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied before any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is calculated each time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots.
