In our tests, we discovered that the j7+ quickly removed dust, dirt, and hair from pets. The rubber brushes that counter-rotate kept the debris in its place instead of scattering it on the floor. Although the iRobot Home app is very easy to use, we've found it to be less reliable than other apps that utilize robotic cleaners. It can take a while to download updates, and often it's difficult to know whether the update is working until you've seen it in the action.

2. Roborock Q5+

When you're looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that can do more than simply clean floors, the most effective option is likely to be a hybrid. These bots are equipped with a tank of water so they can vacuum and mop simultaneously. They also have a number of additional features, including smart mapping, small obstacle avoidance, and the ability to wash and dry mopping pads. The negative is that they can be expensive when purchased at full retail price, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they often drop in price.

Roborock makes some of our favorite robot vacuums and the Q5+ isn't an exception. It's their most affordable auto-empty model, and while it doesn't have some of the features that are found on more expensive models (like no-go zones and multi-story memory) it's a great option if you're willing sacrifice a bit to save some hundred dollars.

The Q5+ is exceptionally gentle when it comes down to obstacles like tables and walls. This makes it an ideal choice for homes that have lots of furniture. It's also very thorough in cleaning dust bunnies. This is an area that many cheaper robot vacuums fall short. The technology used to navigate in the Q5+ is superb as well, with only a few missed corners and along walls.

Like other Roborock devices, the Q5+ can be controlled by the buttons on the device itself or via the Roborock app. The app lets you start and stop cleanings. You can also set schedules, design virtual barriers and no-go zones, alter your home map, or re-label rooms.

If you select the Q5+ model, it comes with a brand new auto emptying dock that is designed to make this robot easier to maintain. It requires a screwdriver for install, but once it's in place, emptying the bin is easy. It also has an impressive LCD display which is great to have when creating schedules or changing settings. This feature isn't required for most people but it can help easily keep track of the robot's maintenance schedules.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot vacuum and mop that's impressively clever in its vacuuming and mopping capabilities. Its design and functionality are among the best inexpensive robot vacuum on the market however it's expensive.

It's a small base station that looks beautiful and is easily hidden when not in use. The main reason to buy the station is that it automates many tasks, functions, and chores that other robots have to leave to you. It can store dirty and clean water, and then electrolyze and heat the water. The majority of other robots require this.

Its vacuuming is also impressive. It's the only robovacs that I've tested that do a really good job of cleaning up debris from plain floors, and is not nearly as loud as the more expensive Roomba 980 or iRobot the 900 series.

The Freo X Ultra is not without faults, particularly in the area of navigation. Its laser sensors and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as other robotvacs. This means that it can get stuck or confused in certain corners or rooms in the home. It also can't climb stairs as well as other models and isn't equipped with a dock that can create a cleaning area for carpets that are soft.

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is an excellent choice for those who need an automated vacuum that can do it all.

If you're looking to cut costs or don't mind the limitations of the robot, there are plenty of alternatives available. A lot of eufy models are substantially less. The Eufy Qrevo Curv, for instance, is cheaper and offers an identical experience on the app with more features, including stairs, a fully-function dock, and better overall vacuuming performance on bare floors as well as high and low-pile carpets.

eufy, an Anker company, has a track record of creating robot vacuums that strike a good balance between performance, features and price. The G30 Hybrid is no different it offers a high-quality cleaning of hard floors and carpets and mopping function too at a price that is affordable. It's easy to setup, just snap one of the side brushes on, switch it on and plug in the charging dock. The app takes you through several steps to connect it to Wi-Fi and then the G30 is ready to go. The dock will need to be located near an outlet and have plenty of space to move.

The G30 is a compact device that measures 2.85 inches in height, meaning it will be tucked away under couches and pieces of low-clearance furniture. Its design is more subtle compared to some rival models. It is sleek with a black finish with three physical buttons for auto vacuum Cleaning start/pause (which scrubs a spot in a spiral pattern for two minutes), Recharge, and Spot bot cleaner. You can also link the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home to do unscheduled cleaning with voice commands.

The most important characteristic that sets the G30 apart from its competitors is the method it cleans. It makes use of a built-in map to create an image of the immovable objects it encounters, remembering what it's already cleaned and where it can't access. When it needs to recharge, it will automatically return to its starting point and begins cleaning where it left off.

The sleek G30 isn't without faults, though. The iRobot Roomba 675 is better built, incurs lower recurring expenses, charges more quickly and has the same battery life while offering superior performance on floors that are unfinished and carpets with a low pile. It also comes with a larger dust bin that doesn't have to be emptied as frequently and comes with the boundaries to keep it away from certain areas. The G30 is, however is more affordable and much easier to maintain. Its smaller size means that it doesn't have to be emptied as often, and it has less difficulty handling bulky products such as cereal.
