The item upgrade feature allows players to upgrade their equipment. This can be accomplished by any item upgrader NPC.

Upgrades can boost the stats of an item upgrade and add extras depending on its type. Examples include Whistan's shield for FB Sorcs, and Goldwraps for caster builds.

Armour

Link's armor is a key element to protect him from harm. While it can't be upgraded like weapons, it can be improved in various ways to increase its defence capabilities.

The principle of armour is to protect the person or animal from physical harm or injury, either from direct physical attack or a range of dangers to the environment or activity. Historically, the majority of armour was made of fabrics or leather, however metal protections were also used particularly for military purposes like heavy cavalry and combat drones.

Like weapons, there are a number of ways that armour can be upgraded, but most will require visiting one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain offers a different degree of improvement and higher levels of protection that require more rupees and other materials.

First, Armor Upgrades are permanent upgrades. Once they've been applied and removed, they cannot be reverted until you own a different piece of equipment with the same upgrade. You should only apply the highest-level upgrades to your equipment and make sure that you have all the components required to complete them.

You can find the upgrade components you require in a variety of places around Hyrule. These include shrines, merchants and even enemies. They are typically marked by the blue triangle or gold circle symbol. They are available in large numbers as you progress through. While they may appear randomly, there is the possibility that obtaining certain upgrade components will trigger a quest that will reward players with more.

It is also important to note that although the level of protection offered by each upgrade is different, it is the same across all upgrades and will always be superior to nothing. A full set of upgraded armor will give you a powerful defense boost that will protect against all types of attacks, except magic. This makes it a powerful weapon for all classes.

Weapons

You can upgrade your guns by using special upgrades to create a truly unique weapon. They can increase the damage, change the weapon's stats so that they are suited to your specific build or even unlock new attachments such as unique enchantments, ammo types and more aesthetic options.

To upgrade a weapon, you'll need to have an upgrade component in place and the item itself. The weapon must also be at or above a certain point for the upgrade to be effective and most weapons can only take one upgrade at a time.

Weapon upgrade components can be found all over the world from a variety of sources, including merchants or enemies. The upgrade components themselves are made up of components that can be put into weapons, armor trinkets, trinkets, or gathering tools to provide an attribute bonus or other effect while they're in use. The equipment must be a certain level to accept the upgrade. It can be upgraded in the same way as other items.

The upgrades themselves are a mixture of Smithing Stones and Runes, and are used for enhancing the stats of a base weapon, and also to increase its scalability with other stats. They can be obtained from enemies dropped in the open world, purchased from certain merchants, or obtained from combat.

There are two NPCs who can upgrade your weapons: Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub area and the Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor hub area. Both of these NPCs will take your Smithing Stones and Runes in exchange for a higher-level version of the weapon and an enhancement.

Prioritize upgrading your top-in-slot items first. Then, upgrade the items that you aren't likely to replace anytime soon. Upgrade your weapon first, and then upgrade your chest, shoulders hands, feet, and hands in case you intend to play an asymmetrical build. The same principle applies to Magic and Utility Items. However, based on your playstyle, some specific items are more useful than others. Similar is the case for Armour, with some reforges being superior to others.

Magic Items

A character can upgrade only one item of magic at a time. If an upgrade project has been cancelled, no more upgrades will be planned for the item. Upgraded magic items cost twice as much gold to create or purchase, but can offer other benefits.

A magical item is any item with special properties or effects. Most of these items are weapons, however some are also shields, armor and cloaks, potions, rings, scrolls and other items. Certain of these items can be converted into a sentient.

Many magic items can have their abilities enhanced. This can make them more useful to players, or can aid them in overcoming a particularly challenging encounter. Infused weapons can offer bonuses to damage against a particular type of enemy, for instance. This is especially beneficial for characters who have reached the point where they are likely to encounter a particular type of monster in Dungeons.

A ring infused by magic might give immunity to non-magical attacks that bludgeon or pierce or slash (excluding attacks that are silvered) until the character is given a second rest. This is particularly beneficial for melee martial characters or any person who wishes to avoid buying an armor.

Certain enchanted objects possess special abilities that allow the character to cast spells that are not on their class list. This is beneficial for those who are having trouble filling their spell slots because of multiclassing. These enchanted items typically require an Intelligence (Arcana) check to use them, and the spell is determined by rolling a table based on the number of Intelligence points used.

Other enchanted objects might allow the character's appearance change or create a brand new one. These items are particularly beneficial for characters who are forced to leave their home, or are in a place in which they are not accepted. A magical item may grant them invisibility or make them invisible to everyone, except for the chosen person.

Utility Items

Utility items are those that don't fall into the categories of Clothing, Armor or Weapons, and provide a range of different capabilities. Unlike Armor and Weapons, no one utility item can conflict with another. Most utility items have an effect that a player can activate by using them but some also have additional capabilities that activate when the user presses a button or activates a skill.

Generally, the most common kind of utilitarian Best item upgrader is the Flashlight, which illuminates the surrounding area. Other utility items include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player to hover in mid-air when moving, and the Jetpack that allows the player to accelerate in all directions when on the ground. A variety of useful items can be immediately produced in the Engineering section while others can be unlocked through research projects or projects in the Proving Ground.

Players can unlock more powerful utility items in addition to those that are available in their normal inventory by purchasing them at the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Certain of these items can be upgraded for greater effectiveness.

The majority of utilitarian items give the player an advantage in navigation or enhance the ability to fight. Sharpening stones, made by a Weaponsmith can boost power and Ferocity while Maintenance Oils, created by an Huntsman can increase concentration and healing power. Other items of utility such as Writs or Theses crafted by the Scribe can be used to give the player an increase in damage or condition damage.

All XCOM soldiers can equip a utilitarian item at the start of the campaign. Later, an additional slot becomes available by equipping certain types of armor or completing engineering research or other projects in the Proving Ground. In the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are added by equipping the Grenade Launcher which lets the player equip an Smoke Grenade or Bomb in an additional grenade slot, while an offensive grenade can be placed in the main slot for grenades.
