Components

Upgrade components are only available to equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. Infusions and enrichments are a specific type of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging ascended gear or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it's applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Every Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the various Glyphs, and there are also a few rare Glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus which will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. The upgrade cost for non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero quality items will have the lowest cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons.
