Item upgrades give players the possibility of upgrading equipment that they already own. This can be accomplished by any item upgrader (such a good point) NPC.

A weapon that contains some special substance could offer, for instance, extra damage against a certain type of enemy. This is particularly beneficial for characters that have reached a level where they are likely to encounter the same kind of monster in dungeons over and over again.

A ring with an infusion could grant the ability to resist piercing, bludgeoning or slashing injuries from non-magical attacks (not including silvered ones) until the next time the character takes a lengthy rest. Several utilitarian items can be quickly created in the Engineering section while others are unlockable through research projects or experimental projects at the Proving Ground.

In addition to the items that are available in the normal inventory, players can also obtain additional powerful utility items by purchasing them from the Atomic Shop and also from seasonal Scoreboard rewards (such as the Shadow Goggles). Some of these items are upgradeable to increase their effectiveness.

The majority of utilitarian items give players a navigational advantage or increase a specific combat ability. Sharpening stones, created by a Weaponsmith, increase Power and Ferocity while Maintenance Oils, created by a Huntsman, increase Concentration and healing power.
