The best robot hoover can automatic vacuum cleaner and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and works when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models This mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has 100% in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the automatic vacuum and mop robot's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger houses it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you have a number of furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or to create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot hoover and mop vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
