What is a bedside crib and cot cot?
A bedside baby bed crib (also called bassinet or co-sleeper) is a small baby crib that can be attached to your adult bed, allowing your newborn to sleep in a safe environment with you. It is a safe method of co-sleeping and doesn't increase your risk of SIDS like bedsharing. It can also help you bond with your newborn baby.
The cots come with one side that can be adjusted so that you can reach your baby easily in the nighttime to comfort them and feed them. This is particularly helpful for mothers recovering from a csection. Some are also foldable or portable, so you can bring them along on trips and use them as a temporary sleeping option for babies who aren't yet ready to move into a cot that is full size.
When you are looking for a bedside crib, look for a model that has a breathable mattress and a cover to shield your infant from the stains. It is also advisable to purchase baby-safe accessories like a blanket, teether and a cuddly toy.
If you are seeking a long-term solution, some cribs come with conversion kits that let you transform them into a toddler bed or a cot when the time is appropriate. This is great for extending their life span and making the transition smoother. Some even have a detachable top section that can be converted into a bassinet, while others can be used as the regular or high-rise adult bed. This is a good choice for families that are planning on frequent travel or switching rooms at night. Be aware of the dimensions of your bedroom to make sure you can be able to fit in the crib comfortably. A lot of cribs have an incline that can be used to create an incline for babies who have reflux.

Anna found the CoZee to provide a safe, comfortable place to sleep for her baby. She was pleased that it didn't move like other models, which meant she didn't wake up in the night trying to soothe her child to feed. She also loved that the side lowered down so she didn't have to reach over her partner to pull the baby out to feed her at night.
The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and was a stylish addition to the bedroom. It looks more like an expensive piece of furniture than many of the other cribs we've tested, and can look quite utilitarian in comparison. It is also relatively light at 11kg, and comes with a carrying case that allows you to take it on holiday or even when you move house. It's all you need to buy is an extra waterproof sheet and safety strap for co-sleeping. The Iora is a bedside cots crib that is smaller and can fold flat. It also comes with a travel case which allows it to be taken anywhere. It was easy to move from room to room, and our mum testers believed it was the right size for a bedside crib. The large storage basket is great for storing extra bedding or nappies.
This is a great option for parents who wish to sleep together, but don't wish to share their bed. Or if one of the partners suffers from mobility issues such as arthritis or back pain. Our mom testers love the fact that they can easily access their baby in the Iora, and it also has an optional reflux incline to help alleviate gas.
Our moms are thrilled that the mattress adheres to NICE guidelines. These include placing the baby in a Moses basket or crib on its own without toys, blankets, pillows etc. They also state that the mattress is comfortable and firm for babies and is easy to find sheets for. It's not as light as the other smaller bedside cot bed cribs however and if you're looking for something lighter and easier to move around, look at other options on our list.
