World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to increase an item upgrade's gear score up to 700, and then add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory before heading to the kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading because of their distinctive stats. (For example an excellently broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons don't really change after an upgrade and therefore aren't worth it.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats like crit chance, attack damage, PvE and PvP damage. Weapons also have an unchanging bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. Many weapons also come with an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a unit. In some cases this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage that a weapon upgrades on its own.
A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For example, an +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade the weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons also reroll the stats of their base. This is usually a good thing, but it can also have negative effects. Upgrades can make things inaccessible, unless you're very lucky.
Upgrades can be made to armor items to improve their stats. For example, if you upgrade a helm or chest, it will boost its base defense while a belt and gloves will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it may reroll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain after upgrading, as well as the relative values of those stats. This means that a change from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in the weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will strike for 3 times less often as it is an absolute statistic.
A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button with circular arrows within the menu for items. This will reroll the item and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's levels or bind to account status.
Armor
A few tweaks to your armor can make a an enormous difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE boosts to poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which makes traversing tough areas a breeze. In general, the greater defense your character has the more value you get out of each point of health, so it's important to improve your armor as much as you can.
To improve your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four fountains in all and each one requires you to complete a special side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed your main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.
The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the first upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for instance, can be upgraded to a 5 defense rating, which allows you to stay ahead in frigid conditions with a lot of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you're able to survive a battle with your comrades.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll want to focus on enhancing it to increase physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll wear at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you use for the final boss battle, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also unlock some benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. In general, you should save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have a few improvements to the chest armor and helmets to allow you to stealth around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by the player, give an immediate effect. There are five types of potions that have different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to increase their level of effectiveness. Alternatively the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust to the potions.
Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount XP. This can be earned by crafting them on a table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. However, the upgrade price changes depending on what type of potion you'd like to upgrade, and also on the item level upgrade's Mark Level as well as its rarity.
To upgrade a potion, right-click it in your inventory. Then select "Upgrade" from the menu. This opens a GUI where you can choose the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll produce when upgraded. The upgrade of potions can be completed in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP they earn will be added to your current XP count.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not be degraded until you re-use it, or break the bottle it is stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to rename it.
Version 1.7.2 brought a few changes to the mechanics of potions. Splash potions, for instance, now have a duration that is 0:08 instead of 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display for the item. The potion table is now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It can now be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Unlike the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions cannot be used in cauldrons. This is the same for the use of a potion in an empty cauldron. This will deplete the potion and refill the bottle.
In addition, there are simmering potions made with dragon breath and splash potions. Similar to lingering potions, the effect can be extended by adding redstone. The table of potions is laid out more in line with the Java Edition, and new potions were added such as potion of leaping, potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is an ornamental item upgrader kit that is small, cheap or piece jewelry. It can also refer to an ornament or object that serves a purpose, but isn't important as a Thimble. In some traditions, trinkets are used to symbolize friendship or affection, especially between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. These can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. In contrast to other upgrades for items, trinkets can be swapped out at will without losing their status.
The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and the capital of each zone, as well as in some cases, dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.
Upgrading a trinket is an affordable alternative to buying a new one. A player can upgrade their trinket for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the previous trinket however, it will also come with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade item.
Once the old Trinkets are no longer usable, they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
In general players should upgrade their highest priority items first. This usually means the Best item upgrade-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondaries and then other gear items that they won't replace soon (for instance, a ring or cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when selecting the items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player then they should consider upgrading their helm, chest and shoulders.
Once they have become useless trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level. The new trinket has an additional bonus of 1. A re-upgrade, however, will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still less expensive than buying an entirely new trinket.
