The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detector) are positives.
Be sure to check your robot's brushes for hair tangled as well as large debris, and wash them when needed. Some models also self-empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They have motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and works while you are at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the Best robot vacuum cleaner UK robotic hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuum cleaner that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and automatic vacuum and mop robot. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with how dirty they are.
If you have a bigger home, it is worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to tell the robot vacuum cleaners best which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app has a range of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
