World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.
For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will suffer an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced by new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade can be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the equipment with which it is used (for instancethe 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using less upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level with normal methods.
A boost upgrade can modify the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them in the cash shop or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will be revealed during the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much it will improve after a future reset.
If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a significant chance that the item upgrades could become obsolete or even break when it fails. A failed upgrade will ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the possibility of failure. Some upgrades also offer a bonus if reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes within their radius as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as you can to level 15.
You'll often see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the best way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes more quickly.
Glyphs, the sole upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions, are the most common. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires the use of a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with another Glyph with the same rank or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the various Glyphs as well as also a few rare Glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your equipment. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that can boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.
Glyphs boost all nodes connected to them, so it is best to place Glyphs in the most important spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For instance that a Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, but also think about placing them near crucial damage nodes as well.
Leveling
The item upgrading system allows players to increase the stats of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be upgraded to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires various components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. Once enough points are earned you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and also receive the bonuses.
When a player upgrades an item it is replaced by a new item of the same kind. The same armor will receive a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage in that the item could be more expensive even if you do not require it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. The item will be replaced with the same item, but it has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This is useful for certain items, but it's not something that should be done regularly, as it can waste lots of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, allowing the player to customize their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or swims like dolphins). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time raising the max roll by 10 points. This item can be very valuable in PvP as the best version of it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of the item, and upgrading weapon items will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
Each item can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded up to eight times. Each time you upgrade an item it has the chance to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to revert back to its original condition, which requires the user to spend more materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.
If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. The item upgrader also loses any bonuses it has gained, such as the chance to crit attack damage, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time or reloading speed). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item upgrades is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon receives a crit chance boost, the increase will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. Slots is a brand-new attribute that has been added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and upgrade item slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its base value. For instance an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items might require different upgrades than regular gear. For example, they may need less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. The player will need to bring every piece of gear they want to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each equipment upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients for upgrading.
