WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as useful for the latter due to the need to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. The Best item upgrade used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current item level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of button, which will show an item's preview at its next upgrade items level when the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current item level. For instance, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.
Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade items recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require various methods, which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with numerous new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain item level Upgrade level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less, even in the event that they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available after certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a couple of options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item upgrader mod level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade items requires up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it brings some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
