A Small bedside baby sleeper Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed

A bedside co sleeper cot crib will allow you to keep your baby close during the night without needing to get out of bed. The breathable fabric means you can easily see your baby and they're easy to lower for those bleary-eyed 3am feeds.

Some double as a moses's basket.

What is a bedside crib?

A bedside crib, also known as a bassinet or a co-sleeper is a baby cot that is attached to an adult bed. This allows your baby to sleep with you in safety. This is a safe form of co-sleeping that doesn't increase your risk of SIDS, like bedsharing. It can also help you bond with your new baby.

The cots usually have a side that is able to be raised, so you can easily reach your baby at night to feed and comforting. This is particularly useful for mothers recovering from a csection. Many are portable or foldable which means you can use them for trips and as an interim solution for infants who aren't ready to be able to transition to a larger crib.

Look for a crib with a breathable mattress, and an appropriate cover to keep your baby safe from staining. It is also advisable to buy baby-safe items like a blanket, teether and a soft toy.

If you're seeking a long-term solution, some cribs come with conversion kits that let you transform them into a toddler bed or cot when the time is appropriate. This will extend their life and make the transition smoother. Some even have a detachable top section that converts into a bassinet, while others can be used as the regular or high-rise adult bed. This is a great option for families that plan to travel frequently or change between bedrooms in the evening. It is also important to consider the size of your bedroom to ensure that you can squeeze the crib comfortably. Many cribs come with a riser which can be used to create an inclined position for infants who suffer from reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

Known for their high-quality baby products, English brand Joie has entered the world of bedside cribs with the Roomie Glide. This co-sleeper was designed to help parents connect and sleep side by side with their babies without sharing one bed. It's loaded with features that make bonding between parents and baby safe, simple and enjoyable.

One of the main features is a smooth, rocking motion that can be activated with the push of an button. This gentle rhythm will help to soothe your baby without disturbing their natural sleeping patterns. This is great for toddlers and older babies who are struggling to settle and can aid in digestive issues such as reflux and colic.

The crib can also be fixed to the side of the bed by an attachment strap and clip. This makes it extremely solid and secure, allowing you to enjoy a great night's sleep without having to worry about your child sliding off into the middle of the room. The rounded shape of the cocoon has soft padding on the sides as well as double mesh windows at both ends. This allows airflow while keeping your baby safe.

The mattress included is firm and comfortable and has a removable cover. The crib is easy to put together and take down thanks to an aluminum frame that is lightweight and makes it very portable. The four wheels that are rubber-covered and lockable ensure that the crib does not leave marks on your floors and are easy to move. The crib is easy to clean due to the fabric that is washable and can be easily packed in a bag for overnight stays.

The Tutti Bambini CoZee Air

This superior model is designed to be a secure, baby-sitter from birth to 6 months. It has bars that rock for easy mobility and castors. Its airflow mattress is luxurious and provides an ideal sleeping surface and ventilation panels ensure your baby is kept cool. There are also 6 different height settings as well as an incline option that could aid in reducing reflux and congestion.

Unlike some wooden bedside cot cribs, which can be a nightmare to clean due to their constant stream of dribble and snot, the Tutti Bambini CoZeeAir has a wipe-clean liner and fabric that can be washed in the machine. Additionally, it comes with a top bar that is easily lowered for nighttime feeds without needing to fumble with zips in the dark.

Anna found the CoZee to be a safe and cozy sleeping place for her baby. She loved that it didn't rock like some other models, meaning it didn't wake her in the night when she was trying to soothe her baby for feedings. She also liked that the sides of the chair lowered so she didn't need to reach over her partner to carry the child out to feed her at night.

The CoZee comes in oak or charcoal and is a stylish addition to any bedroom. It looks more designer than other cribs we've seen that are usually utilitarian. It's also quite light at just 11kg, and comes with a carry bag so you can carry it away on holidays or when you move your home. You only need to purchase an extra waterproof sheet and safety strap to sleep with your partner. There are step-by-step directions and photos to guide you through the process as you open the box and making it a one-person job if needed.

The Maxi-Cosi lora

The Iora is a bassinet that can be placed at the bedside co sleeper that allows parents to feel more connected to their infant as they sleep. It adjusts upwards and downwards and slides through three positions to fit next to the bed of the parent, or in the corner of the room to ensure that your baby is within arm's reach. The mesh siding allows air to flow through, and allows you to see your baby easily. You can also store extra pajamas or supplies in the large basket underneath.

As opposed to other bedside cribs, the Iora folds flat and comes with a travel bedside crib bag which allows it to be carried anywhere. Our mom testers were able to move it from room to room and felt that it was a suitable size for a small bedside cot that was not too big or too small. They also loved the large storage basket which is ideal for stowing nappies or bedding.

This is a great option for parents who want to sleep together but don't want to share their bed. Also, if one of the partners has mobility issues, such as arthritis or back pain. Our mum testers love the ease with which they can access their baby in the Iora, and it also has an optional reflux incline to help alleviate gas.

Our mothers love that it follows NICE guidelines. They recommend placing an infant in a Moses basket or crib on its own, without blankets, toys, pillows etc. The mattress is also sturdy and comfortable for babies, and sheets are easily available. It's not as light as some of the smaller cribs on our list, so if prefer something lighter and easier to move around, consider a different option.
