World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it may increase the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level and increase other stats.
The process of upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a specific amount.
Item Level
When an item gets upgraded, its stats are increased in value. This value is the sum of all of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that need to be modified to upgrade an item.
It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at the lower levels). Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.
When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment, players can compare the levels of the item. It's an excellent indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it is able to deal. The level of the item can be used to compare items when examining a vendor's inventory.
On PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are many theories about the method by which the level of an item is determined. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated using formulas that determine the value of an item's stats really are. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the item upgrader mod's value. This could result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzard's real item level.
It's not the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The location of where the item upgrader kit was dropped may alter its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste or crit rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.
Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game makes use of them in many ways to encourage players to not restrict themselves to a particular weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat mods on a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's skill.
The upgrades to items add by boosting certain stats on the item upgrade. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.
Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage, special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to make them unique by adding a name.
All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade menu pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other methods of rerolling.
Players can upgrade an item to a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the level of the item, however every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the specified range, unless it's an exclusive item or a God roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attaches, or select which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item level, and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be gained or lost at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items and the properties that are created by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is particularly beneficial in early game runs since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each item level. These can also be increased by using anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can be made or spawn with the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be improved by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to add another 40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, such as the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any skill that deals damage by 5percent. These items can be purchased from the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Item upgrades are a costly process and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.
The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The probability of success can only be increased so much, and the likelihood that the upgrade will fail cannot be greater than 100%..
The Luck of an item may influence the success of an upgrade. All items have a base success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases that chance by five percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects can be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade Item overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
