WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items that are used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and other accessories. They are purchased by players from item upgrading upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show the item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the item upgrade slot, and the current level of the item. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item upgrader kit is upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain the latest recipe. The discount on upgrades increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via a variety of means that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with some new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to the same level will be less expensive, even in the event that they belong to another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that Crests are only available to equipment of a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrader equipment available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
