Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, also called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stat linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an indicator of the level of the Best item upgrade's upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item increases with its rarity and level.
Upgrade components
A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a procedure that can improve the power of your armor and weapons. This can be achieved by a variety of methods, including by using upgrade components or by increasing an item's rarity or mark level. Many items can also be reforged to boost their stats.
There are items that can be upgraded throughout the game. They are available all over all over the world, as well as rewards for missions. Players can also make them. Upgrade components are the main way to upgrade equipment. These are the items that can slot into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and many require a certain upgrade level. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others offer a general bonus.
There are a variety of upgrade elements in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be placed in any kind of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are equipment type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs can be placed in gathering tools and offer numerous bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing additional crafting materials.
Choose the item from your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right hand side of the screen. It will show the expected stats after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will read Blocked if you don't have enough of either.
The upper-right corner shows the number of upgrade components needed for a particular item. The price of an upgrade increases with the level and rarity of the item upgrading increases. However, you can reduce the cost by purchasing upgrades from a seller, or trading them with other players.
Nearly all weapons can be upgraded with an upgrade to a prefix, such as an insignia or rune, and many can be upgraded using suffix upgrades. These upgrades include an adjective in the item's name like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to communicate visual information. They move to grab the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language, making them more effective in conveying the message of a language barrier. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.
Each glyph has a set of values it can increase a stat's value according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This isn't the actual amount by which the glyph will increase the stat, but rather the maximum amount it can increase a stat. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and quality of the item you are enchanting.
Most upgrade components slotted into items cannot be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the gear in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have a non-useful rune or glyph that hasn't yet been incorporated into your gear, you can move it to another piece of equipment by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu in the Glyphs panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
If you want to remove a glyph from a piece of, you will need to salvage it using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will destroy the item within which it is placed but you will be able to salvage the upgraded item with the glyph and its shards so this should not be considered as a loss.
The addition of a glyph to an item can cause it to become unstable and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you remove the item. You can also put an inscription to your equipment to increase its value. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and be distributed slowly to the wearer instead of all at one time. This is beneficial for players who take many hits from enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to alter the affixes on weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from many sources, such as mystery boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with a random affix that is generally better than the one they had before. Reroll tokens are also a good method to reroll the stats of a weapon and can be upgraded to increase damage or additional perks.
Items that have been rerolled will not appear in the item upgrade menu, but they are still eligible to receive upgrades. Rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. Recycling an item level upgrade adds a small amount of points to its gauge of level. The amount is based on the item's rarity as well as its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than items with lower levels.
Players can also use Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. Rerolls roll a percentage chance for a weapon's trait. If it scores higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be rerolled up to three times.
Rerolls are a great option for upgrading an item, however, players must be aware that it can reduce the total ilvl of the weapon by the number of rerolls required to raise it to the final level. This effect is most noticeable on rings and Diadems, since they have no other options to increase the ilvl.
The system of rerolls has been criticised by players for being expensive and it's more equitable to let players pay for it with money or food items that would allow players to modify their builds without wasting time and energy. However the paid rerolls aren't something that the developers would like to implement at this time in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to add a race change potion in the near future.
Leveling
There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first method of leveling up an upgrade to an item is by increasing the upgrade amount. This increases the value of upgrading the stat. The second option is to boost the effect of an upgrade, which boosts the healing or damage for the stat. Additionally you have the option to upgrade the base item to an upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel, but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item upgrader mod.
When you upgrade items it is essential to keep in mind that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases a better roll is based on the glyphs. However there are instances when a greater or special roll may occur. The item type will also determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or exclusive item to a special kind of item, it's likely to gaining an upper level.
Upgrades can be expensive particularly if you are upgrading equipment from the standard track to legendary. The price will be based on the item upgrader mod's iLevel base and the amount of upgrade levels it comes with. Certain upgrade tracks require crests in order to get to the next level.
If you're lucky the upgraded item could reach the maximum level on its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional benefit. This will provide a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect can change with each upgrade level however. Generally speaking the effect of upgrading is increased by a factor of +3.
Depending on the item's base level and upgrade route, the iLevel of the upgraded item will change as well. For example an item that has been upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary one can be expected to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
