EV Star
GreenPower Motor Company produces a full line of high-floor as well as low-floor all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship model, and it can be customized to meet a variety of applications. The platform's clean sheet design allows for optimal battery pack placement and lower center of gravity, which results in higher payload to range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX is designed to serve mid to last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 design's one wall structure in the interior and higher insulation compared to traditional trucks enable seamless sanitation, better temperature control and a more extended life. The EV Star REEFERX has a higher capacity for cargo and an industry-leading payload to range for zero-emission transport of passengers or goods.
GreenPower has collaborated with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system, which will allow fleets to seamlessly transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able to support wireless charging at 75 kW.
We had the chance to test drive the EV9 for a few hours on a local freeway, and found it to be a breeze to drive and comfortable for long distances. The ride is smooth over ruts and bumps, while the EV9 does an excellent job of reducing wind and road noise on the highway. The acceleration is surprisingly quick and the vehicle has adjustable regenerative braking to enable "one pedal driving" by lifting the accelerator.
The EV9 has a wide range and can be charged within three hours or less at home, or with any commercial charger. Drivers can select between two operating modes including eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode prioritizes the torque and cruise control, as well as handling while sport mode maximizes speed. Both modes are fun to drive and offer an experience unlike any other for scooter green power those who've never been in a vehicle with an electrical system before.
GreenPower offers a variety of other green power electric scooter vehicles which include a multi-purpose electric mobility scooter fastest minibus dubbed the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used for executive shuttles, transit or microtransit vanpools, buses, or paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star busses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 green power electric scooter cars. With the Biden Administration planning to electrify school buses nationwide, GreenPower plans on ramping up production to meet demand. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA conforming. They will be eligible for federal transit grants. Keep an eye on us as we follow the AV Star on its tour of demonstration later in the year. We will share more details about this revolutionary EV.
