WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade items increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader kit upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. The Item level Upgrade used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader mod upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.
Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of getting a new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade are acquired via various methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if the items are from a different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is reduced as well, but is only available when certain milestones are reached.
Crests
Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item upgrades level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear you can locate and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
