World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades provide players with the ability to upgrade their equipment that they already own. This can be done at any item upgrader NPC.
Generally, upgrades increase an item upgrading's main stat and can give it extra benefits, based on the item type. Examples include Whistan's shield, for FB Sorcs or Goldwraps for casting builds.
Armour
Link's armor is an essential factor in keeping him safe from danger. While it isn't able to be upgraded like weapons, you can still enhance its defence capabilities in a variety of ways.
The fundamental idea behind armour is to shield animals or people from physical harm or injury, either from direct physical attack or a range of environmental and activity hazards. In the past, armour was primarily constructed from leather or fabric, but later metal protections were also used for military purposes, particularly like heavy cavalry and combat drones.
As with weapons there are a variety of ways in which armor can be upgraded but most will require visiting one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain has its own level of upgrades available, with more granting greater levels of protection, but needing a higher amount of rupees and other materials to unlock.
The first thing to note about Armor Upgrades is they are permanent upgrades, meaning that once they've been applied they cannot be replaced unless there is another piece of equipment with the same upgrade. It is important that you only apply the highest level of upgrades to your equipment and ensure that you have the required materials to complete the upgrade.
In terms of acquiring the required upgrade components, you'll find them in a variety of places around Hyrule including shrines, merchants as well as enemies. They're usually identified with the blue triangle or gold circle symbol and can be found in great quantities as you progress. While they may appear randomly, there's a chance that acquiring certain upgrade elements will result in quests that reward players with more.
It is also important to note that, even though the level of protection offered by each upgrade is different however, it's the same for all upgrades and will always be better than nothing. A full set of upgraded armor will give you a strong defense boost that can protect you from any kind of attack including magic. This makes it a formidable weapon for any type of.
Weapons
You can upgrade your guns with special upgrades to make them truly unique. They can boost damage, change the weapon's stats to cater to your specific build and even unlock new attachments like unique ammo types, enchantments and other options for aesthetics.
You'll need both the upgrade component and the weapon itself to upgrade it. The weapon must be at or near a certain level before you can upgrade it. Most weapons only accept a single upgrade.
There are weapons upgrade components scattered across the globe and even from enemies and can be bought from a merchant. The upgrade components themselves are a mix of components that can be put into weapons, armor, trinkets, and gathering tools to grant an attribute bonus or other impact while they're being used. The equipment has to be of a certain level in order to accept the upgrade. It is able to be upgraded in the same way as other items.
Upgrades are a mix of Smithing Stones (a type of stone) and Runes. They are used to improve the effectiveness of weapons and enhance their scaling with other stats. These upgrades are available from enemies in the open world, or from merchants. They can also be dropped by combat.
There are two NPCs that can upgrade your weapons: Blacksmith Hewg in the Roundtable Hold hub area and the Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor hub area. Both of these NPCs accept your Smithing Stones or Runes to upgrade item your weapon.
Prioritize upgrading your top-in-slot items first. Then upgrade the ones you're not likely to replace in the near future. If you're planning on playing in a melee-based build, for example upgrade your weapon, then your shoulders and chest before your hands and feet. Similar principles apply to Magic and Utility Items, with the caveat that certain procs may be better than others depending on your playstyle. Armour is no different, with some Reforges being better than others.
Magic Items
A character can only upgrade one magic item at one time. If an upgrade project is canceled and the next upgrade for the item upgrader won't begin. Upgraded magic items cost twice the amount of gold to create or purchase, but can have other benefits.
A magical item can be any item that has special properties or effects. These are typically weapons, but they could also be shields, armors, cloaks and potions. They could also be rings, scrolls or other items. Certain of these items can be converted into a sentient.
Most magic items can have their abilities enhanced. This makes them more useful for players, or can help them overcome an especially difficult challenge. A weapon that contains an ingredient that is unique could be able to provide additional damage against a specific type of enemy. This is especially beneficial for characters who have reached the level where they are likely to encounter a particular kind of monster over and over again in the dungeons.
An infused ring might confer protection against piercing, bludgeoning or slashing damages from nonmagical attacks (not including silver-plated ones) until the next time the character takes a long rest. This can be particularly helpful for melee fighters, or any character who would like to avoid the cost and hassle of purchasing a shield.
Some enchanted items have special abilities that let the character cast spells in addition to those on their class's list of spells. This can be useful for characters who have difficulty filling their spell slots due to multiclassing. These items that are enchanted generally require an Intelligence (Arcana) check to use, and the spell cast is determined by rolling on an index determined by the number of Intelligence points used.
Other items that can be enchanted may allow the player to change their appearance, or create an entirely new one. These are particularly beneficial for those who have had to leave their homes, or who are in a location where they may not be accepted. A magical item upgrader kit could give them an invisible effect, or make them invisible to everyone but a select few.
Utility Items
Utility items are equipment that do not fall under the categories of Clothing, Armor or Weapons and have a range of different capabilities. They are not compatible with each other, as opposed to Armor or Weapons. The majority of utility items have a passive effect that the player can activate when using them, but some also have additional capabilities that activate when the user presses an action button or activates a skill.
The most popular type of utility item is the Flashlight, which illuminates the surrounding area. Other options include the Helicopter Hat and Rocket Boots, which allow the player to float in the air while moving and the Jetpack which allows players to accelerate in any direction while on the ground. Many utility items can be instantly manufactured in the Engineering section, while others are unlockable through research projects or projects at the Proving Ground.
Players can unlock more powerful utility items in addition to the ones they have in their usual inventory by purchasing them from the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Some of these items can be upgraded to allow greater effectiveness.
Most utility items enhance an individual combat ability or give the player a sort of advantage in navigation. Sharpening stones, created by an Weaponsmith, increase Power and Ferocity. Maintenance Oils, crafted by an Huntsman, increase Concentration and healing power. Other useful items like Writs and Theses crafted by the Scribe can be used to give the player either a boost in damage or condition damage.
XCOM soldiers can equip a single accessory item to start the campaign. An additional slot is available after the completion of certain engineering, research, or research projects on the Proving Ground. In the Alien Hunters downloadable content, additional slots are available by equipping the Grenade Launcher. This enables the player to utilize an Smoke Grenade or Bomb while an offensive grenade is kept in the main slot.
