Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment using new affixes. They can also improve the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Typically items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, whereas items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors, trinkets, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain point before they are upgraded.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player will need to select it and click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats as well as the required component or materials.
There are three kinds of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix to the end of the item upgrader's name. For instance the addition of the suffix Glyph could transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces glyphs with another glyph the old one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, except for inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from the previous versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item upgrade can only be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out." The upgrade cost is increased with each level, but the required materials do not increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of important items to maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
If an item is completed in this way, it is able to receive an upgrade set of components, and an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.
Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its maximum level it is able to be given affixes that boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available depends on the item upgrades's base. For example the rare or exclusive weapon with a base that is normal will have only two affixes available for it, while legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade step requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level and what slot it is in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not attain its maximum level The NPC will offer the player the option of transfer it to a different person and then re-infuse the item with another set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower rate of success.
To determine the height of a building engineers employ an instrument to compare the measurement against an established reference point like a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level before turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that buildings are constructed to the highest degree of precision and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an Item upgrader Kit. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically improve an item's strength or damage, as well as other attributes. This can be done through the menu for items or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be performed in rare cases.
Reroll tokens are derived by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items have a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level filled.
In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd get the stats most important to your build more frequently than other items. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for every stat. This can be a great or a negative thing dependent on your needs and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded Best item upgrade can be equipped with a special, fixed-value bonus that increases its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are added over the usual affixes. The more you improve a product, the better your chance of obtaining the bonus of a different kind.
The game also features various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are placed on a unit. This is a great way to add a lot of power to a character without spending a lot of money.
Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can help you create a more powerful character faster, allowing you to progress in the game and reach higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They can have various sizes, contain no elements at all or have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways such as size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides a wide range of set items that can be upgraded. Certain items are worth upgrading, while others are not. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets with high defense values and set bonuses. However, weapon upgrades often don't improve the item's stats much in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you own lots of weapons or armor pieces already.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique procs that are useful for specific builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items to par with the levels. For example the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower level items can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the item's attributes and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The attributes of the item will be displayed together with any required items. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, armor and weapons have higher value when fully updated. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will result in a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense value of armor that has a newer appearance.
