The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly check your robot vacuum with mop's brushes for hair tangled and large particles, and wash them when needed. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin located at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you want to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxes, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the robot vacuums best mop cleaners that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
