GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete range of heavy and medium-duty electric vehicles, which include models with lower and high floors. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship vehicle, and it is able to be adapted to meet a variety of applications. The platform's clean sheet design approach allows the best battery pack placement and lower center of gravity, which results in better payload to range ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX was developed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries and catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 design's one wall structure in the interior and higher insulation compared to traditional trucks enable seamless sanitation, better temperature control, and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX provides superior capacity for cargo, and an industry-leading payload to allow for zero emission transport of passengers or goods.

GreenPower joined forces with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems, which will enable fleets to easily transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able of wireless charging up to 75 kW.

We had the opportunity to test the EV9 for several hours on a local freeway, and found it to be easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The ride is smooth on ruts and bumps, while the EV9 does an excellent job of suppressing road noise and wind on the highway. The acceleration is surprisingly fast and the car has adjustable regenerative brakes that allow "one pedal driving" by simply lifting the accelerator.

The EV9 has a wide range and can be charged in three hours or less at home, or with any commercial charger. Drivers can select between two operating modes that include eco mode and sports mode. The eco mode prioritizes the cruise control and torque, while the sport mode increases speed and handling. Both are fun to drive and provide an unique experience for those who have never driven an electric vehicle before.

In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other electric vehicles, such as a multi-purpose, all-electric mini bus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be utilized as an executive shuttle, transit or micro-transit vanpool, bus, or paratransit vehicle.

GreenPower is already producing around 10 EV Star buses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of old diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric mobility scooter fastest vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the needs of the Biden Administration which wants to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS certified. They are Buy America compliant, and ADA certified. This means they'll be eligible for federal transit assistance grants. We will be following the AV Star as it goes on its demonstration tour later this year. We will be sharing more information on this innovative EV.
