Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and equipment with new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item upgrades, the player needs to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into stronger bases. Items with strong bases, like eth Titans have little changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found as loot gathered by enemies or received from chests and missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they are upgraded.
In order to upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player has to choose it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.
There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type restriction. Infusions are gems that can only be used in legendary and ascended equipment. They provide the same benefits as jewels, but cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix at the end of item names. For example, adding a Glyph would make the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and replaces the glyphs by a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component, it will be destroyed, except for inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from the previous versions in a few key ways. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few key items and maximize their impact rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several pieces.
If an item is leveled out in this way, it is able to receive an upgrade set of components, as well as a boost in the chance that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it is reset to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
After a piece has been upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive affixes to boost its attributes. The number of affixes available will depend on the type of item it is. For instance, a rare or unique weapon with a normal base will have only two affixes for it, while legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level and in what slot it is placed in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item does not attain its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item with a new set or upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of materials but will result in lower chances of success.
Engineers utilize a level to compare the height of the building against an established point, such as an existing benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod before turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that structures are built to a high level of accuracy and security.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important aspect of the game that can boost the damage, strength, or other attributes. You can do this via the menu for items, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be done sparingly.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original Best item upgrader or another similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.
In the past, some Upgrade Item items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you could be able to get the stats that were important most to your build often than other. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be good or bad, based on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may also be equipped with a special fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a specific percentage. These bonuses are rolled over the standard affixes. The more you upgrade a product, the greater the chance of receiving the bonus of a different kind.
The game also includes several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on the same unit. This is a great way to give the character more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling can give players a faster route to a more powerful character which allows them to achieve high tiers and progress the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be organized in a variety of ways. They can have different sizes, contain no elements at all or contain a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or to sort information. They also aid in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an array of upgradeable set items. Some items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that provide high defense values and set bonuses. However, most upgrades to weapons do not improve the quality of the Best item upgrader's stats when in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already extensive.
Set items can be upgraded to include specific procs that are useful for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level with their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, from 29 to 75. Upgrading lower-level set items can boost their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed as well as any necessary items. To upgrade the No-mouth face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, weapons and armor are more valuable when they are fully updated. Particularly for weapons with damage glyphs for spells or weapons and are upgraded to gold is recommended as it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade as its defense value will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
