A Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed

A crib that is placed near your bed will allow you to keep your baby close to you at night without having to get up. The fabric's breathable design lets you easily see baby and they're easy to lower for those bleary-eyed 3am feeds.

Some also double up as a moses basket, too.

What is a bedside cot newborn crib?

A bedside crib (also called a bassinet or co-sleeper) is a small bedside cot infant crib that can be attached to your adult bed, allowing your infant to sleep comfortably next to you. This is a type of co-sleeping in a safe manner that does not increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing and can help you build a bond with your newborn.

The cots come with one side that can be lowered so that you can reach your baby easily in the nighttime to comfort them and feed them. This is especially useful for mothers who are recovering from the c-section. Many are also mobile or foldable, which means you can bring them along on trips and use them as a temporary sleep solution for infants who aren't ready to transition to a larger cot.

Choose a crib that has a breathable mattress, and a protective cover that will shield your baby from stains. You may also want to buy baby-safe accessories such as a blanket or teether.

If you are looking for a longer-term solution, some cribs come with conversion kits that allow you to convert them into a toddler bed or a cot when the time is appropriate. This is a great way to extend their life and making the transition easier. Some have a removable section at the top that can be transformed into an infant bed. Some can be used in conjunction with a standard adult bed or a high-rise model. This is a good choice for families who are planning on frequent travel or transferring between bedrooms during the night. You should also consider the size of your bedroom to ensure that you can squeeze the crib in comfortably. A lot of cribs have risers that can be added to create an incline for babies who have reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

Famous for their high-end baby products English brand Joie has stepped into the world of bedside cribs with the Roomie Glide. The idea behind the product is to allow parents to bond with their babies whilst sleeping side by side without sharing a bed. This co-sleeper comes with features that help make bonding between parents enjoyable, safe and easy.

A smooth rocking motion can be initiated by pressing a button. This will help soothe your baby to sleep with a gentle rhythm that doesn't disturb their natural sleeping pattern. This is great for toddlers and older babies who are struggling to settle. It can aid in digestion problems such as colic and reflux.

The crib can be locked into its place after the rocking has been done to stop it moving and can also be secured on the side of your bed by clips and straps. This makes it extremely stable and secure allowing you to get a good night's rest without worrying about your child falling off into the middle of the room. The rounded shape of the cocoon has soft padding on the sides and double mesh windows at both ends. This allows airflow while keeping your baby safe.

The mattress is soft and firm. It comes with a washable cover. The aluminum frame is lightweight, making the crib extremely mobile and easy to put together. The four wheels that are rubber-covered and lockable ensure that the crib will not leave marks on your flooring and is easy to move. It is easy to clean with cloths that wipe clean and is easy to carry in a backpack, making it perfect for long-term absences from home.

The Tutti Bambini CoZeeAir

It is designed to be a secure crib that can be used as a next-to-me crib from birth until six months old, this top model features rocking bars and castors that allow for ease of movement. The deluxe airflow mattresses provide a comfortable sleeping surface, while ventilation panels help keep your baby cool. There are six different height settings including an incline setting to aid with congestion and reflux.

Unlike some bedside cribs which can be a nightmare to clean due to their endless stream of snot and dribble, the Tutti Bambini CoZee Air comes with a wipe-clean lining and fabric that can be removed to wash in the machine. It also has a top bar that is easily lowered for feeding at night without having to search for zips in the dark.

Anna discovered that the CoZee was a safe and comfy sleeping space for her infant. She was pleased that it didn't rock like some other models, so it wasn't waking her at night while she was trying to soothe her baby for feedings. She also liked the fact that the side could be lowered so she didn't have to reach out over her partner to pull the baby out for feedings at night.

The CoZee is available in oak and charcoal and is a chic addition to the bedroom. It looks more like an elegant piece of furniture than some of the other cribs we've tried, which look quite utilitarian in comparison. It's also quite light at just 11kg and comes with a carry bag so you can take it with you on holiday or when you move your home. You'll need a waterproof sheet and a safety strap to sleep with your partner. The instructions and illustrations are easy to follow when you first open the box.

The Maxi-Cosi Lora

The Iora is a best bedside cot for newborn bassinet that helps parents feel closer to their infant while they sleep. It can be adjusted up and down and moved to three different slide positions to fit beside the bed of the parent or in the corner so that the baby is always at hand. The mesh siding allows air to flow through, and allows you to quickly see your baby. You can also store additional pajamas and other items in the large storage basket beneath.

The Iora is a smaller bedside cot newborn cot that can fold flat. It also comes with a travel bag so it can be carried anywhere. Our mum testers were able to move it from room to room and believed that it was a good size for a bedside cot, and not too big or small. They also appreciated the large bedside crib storage basket, that is ideal for storing nappies or other bedding items.

This is a great choice for parents looking to co-sleep, but don't wish to share their beds or whose partner may have mobility issues, like arthritis or back pain. Our mum testers love the fact that they can easily access their child in the Iora and that it has an option to tilt the bed upwards to aid in reducing gas.

Our moms appreciate the fact that the mattress is in line with NICE guidelines, which are to place the infant in the crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys pillows, etc.). They also say that the mattress is firm and comfortable for baby and is easy to find sheets for. It's not as light as the other cribs that are smaller, though it is a good choice if you are looking for something lighter and easier to move around, look at other options in our list.
