WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.
Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item upgrading level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the item upgrader mod's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the item slot, and the current item level. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.
Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require a variety of means, which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with some new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a particular level of an item upgrader kit for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will be less expensive, even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a couple of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once an item is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
