Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or adding additional perks. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.
Items that have weak bases, such as rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with strong bases, such as the Titans of eth have little changes in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or additional effect while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, dropped by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the element or material required to make that happen.
There are three kinds of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be placed in any type of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade item components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs by a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, except for inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from the previous versions. Gear is now classified into tracks and each item can only be upgraded so many times before it is "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials needed do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the impact of those items rather than dispersing upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
Once an item has been leveled out in this way, it is eligible for an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Power and it will reset to zero after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
After a piece has been upgraded to the maximum level, it is able to get an affix to increase its capabilities. The amount of affixes available will depend on the item's class. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a normal base will have no more than two affixes for it, while legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level, and in which slot it is in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item upgrader doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the choice to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower rate of success.
Engineers will employ a level to measure the height of the building against a known point, like the benchmark. This process is known as a "level-loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to the highest degree of precision and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential element of the game, and it can improve the damage, strength or other attributes. This can be done via the item menu or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be done sparingly.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.
Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them more accessible for players to roll. It meant that you'd get the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than others. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns, and the control impaired duration stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be a good or a bad thing, dependent on your needs and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item upgrader mod may also come with a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added over the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the higher your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.
The game also comes with number sets that grant the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an unit. This is a good method of giving an individual character more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. Rerolling can help you get a more powerful character quicker, which enables players to advance in the game and attain higher levels.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be organized in various ways. They can be different dimensions, have no elements, or contain one element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They can also be useful in analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an array of upgradeable set items. Some are worth upgrading, others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets with high defense and set bonuses. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in boosting stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you own many armor pieces or weapons.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique procs that are useful for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items to parity with the tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its features, as well as the required items to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will result in a significant improvement in their performance. This will also increase the defense value of armor with a newer appearance.
