WoW Upgrades - The item upgrader kit Upgrader
Upgrades give you an increase in certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by +3. A random extra substat is also added to every upgrade item.
The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will display a preview of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the Item Level Upgrade slot and current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Many locations offer item upgraders which include the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players finish certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with several new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will be less expensive, even if they belong to an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an item upgrader kit that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item upgrader Mod level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
First, you should know that Crests are only available to gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the best gear that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount for the entire account will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
