World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to boost the gear score of an item up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory before heading to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded to benefit from their unique stats (like perfect rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while others like weapons don't change much post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats like damage to attack, crit chance, PvE and damage from PvP. Weapons come with a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. In addition, many weapons have a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a single unit. In some cases this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage a weapon is able to upgrade on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity and level. For instance an item with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the gun will increase until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. This is usually a positive thing, but it can also have negative consequences. Upgrades can make items unusable, unless you are exceptionally lucky.
Armor items can be upgraded to improve their stats. In the case of chests or helms, this will increase its base defense while a belt and gloves will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may reduce its value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain after upgrading, along with the relative values of those stats. This means that a weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will strike for 3 fewer times because it's an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button in the item menu, using the arrows that are circling. This will roll the item and alter its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's levels or tie it to the account status.
Armor
Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make an enormous difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets offer massive improvements in the resistance to curses, poisons fire, magic, and other. This makes it easier to get through difficult areas. Generally speaking, the more defense your character has the more value you can get out of each point of health and it's crucial to improve your armor as often as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them and each one requires you to complete a special side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and have completed the corresponding fountain, you can then talk to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.
The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. You'll need anywhere from three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Horns to upgrade the next one. The Champion Leathers, for example, can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which allows you to stay ahead in frigid environments with a large number of foes. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded to +20 defense so that you're able to withstand a rout with friends.
It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll have to work on upgrading it for physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you wear to fight the final boss and the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can unlock some perks on your armor. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have a few upgrades to your helmets and chest armor that allow you to stealth around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the player, give the player with a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five kinds of potions that have different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to increase their level of effectiveness. Additionally, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to the potions.
Potion upgrades cost a certain amount of XP. These can be earned by crafting them using a craft table or in an chest of the Alchemist. However, the cost of upgrading is dependent on the type of potion you want to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open an GUI that allows you to select the potion you wish to upgrade, and the amount of experience they'll offer when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a single time, and the XP they provide will be added to your current XP count.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not be degraded until you use it again or break the bottle it's stored in. You can also rename the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.
Version 1.7.2 introduced a few changes to the mechanics of potions. Splash potions, for example are now available with a time of 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display for the item. The table of potion can now be made using four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players in Survival and Bedrock. In contrast to the Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions are not able to be used in cauldrons. Also, putting a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the potion and replenishes the bottle.
Finally, there are lingering potions that are brewed with dragon breath and splash potions. In the same way, a lingering potion' effect is extended by adding redstone to it. The potion table is now organized more closely to the Java Edition, and new potions were introduced, including the potion of leaping and the potion of decomposition, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket can be an ornamental item that is small, cheap or piece jewelry. It can also refer to a small ornament or object that has a purpose but isn't important such as a Thimble. In some cultures a trinket is a way to express friendship or affection between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players are able to upgrade items their trinkets. Upgrades can be made by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items trinkets, trinkets can be swapped out at will without losing their stats.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available with tokens, gold, or fragments from trinkets that are rare.
Upgrading a trinket is a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new one. You can upgrade a trinket with as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl as previous one, and will come with an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
Trinkets can be upgraded when they're no longer useful, allowing a player to increase their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players, making them a popular alternative to gold.
In general players should make upgrades to their most important items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, followed by their secondaries and then other pieces of gear that they will not be replacing in the near future (for instance rings or cloaks). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when deciding which items to upgrade. For instance If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks, they should prioritize upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl once they're no longer needed and the new trinket will receive an additional upgrade items bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade will destroy the old trinket until it is salvaged with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than purchasing a new one.
