The EV Star REEFERX is designed to be used for mid-to-last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 configuration's one wall structure inside and higher insulation levels compared to traditional trucks allow for seamless sanitation, improved temperature control, and a longer life. The EV Star REEFERX provides superior capacity for cargo, and an industry-leading payload to range for zero-emission transport of passengers or goods.
GreenPower joined forces with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems. This will enable fleets to easily make the transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW.
We had the chance to test drive the EV9 for a few hours on a local freeway and found it easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The ride is smooth on ruts and bumps, while the EV9 does an excellent job of suppressing road noise and wind on the highway. The acceleration is surprisingly quick, and the car comes with adjustable regenerative braking to enable "one pedal driving" by taking off the accelerator.
The EV9 has a wide range and can be charged in three hours or less at home, or by using any commercial charger. Drivers can choose between two modes of operation: eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode is a great way to increase torque as well as cruise control and handling, while sport mode increases speed. Both are a lot of fun to drive and provide an unique experience for those who have never been in an electric vehicle before.
GreenPower provides a variety of other EVs, including a multipurpose all-electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used as executive shuttles, microtransit or transit vanpools, buses, and paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower produces around 10 EV Star busses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demand of the Biden Administration, which is looking to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested by Altoona and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant and ADA compliant. They will be eligible for federal transit grants.
