WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.
Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item level upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to level up weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using the help of button, which will display an image of the item at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
upgrade items costs differ based on the slot for the item upgrader mod and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
Upgraders for items are available in many places, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and a chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that same item level will be less expensive, even if they belong to a different gear set.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for equipment with a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could be by doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it will bring some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear that you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
