WoW Upgrades - The item upgrader kit Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boosts in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.
Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item level Upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar Best item upgrade will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show a preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.
Upgrade costs vary depending on the Best item upgrade slot, and the current level of the item. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item upgrading has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.
Upgraders for items are available in many places including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item level will cost less even when they belong to another set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade item path. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the type or equipment being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it will no longer require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests have one usage therefore it's essential to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
