WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item level upgrade is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item, but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that are used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which displays a preview of the item at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item and the current item level upgrade level. For instance weapons cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available in many places including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been altered a bit, with some new features added. Once the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from a different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available when certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, contingent on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they only have one use. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader gear that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
