WoW Upgrades - The item upgrader kit Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade items increases the level of the Best item upgrade by +3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item upgrader kit used to upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which will show an image of the item at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item level upgrade. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a drawback.
In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular Best item upgrader level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will be less expensive, even when they are part of another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests can only be used to purchase equipment of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another important modification is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the top gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
