GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete range of heavy- and Greenpower Mobility medium-duty electric vehicles, including lower-floor and high-floor models. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which can be used to accommodate many different body designs and upgrades for a variety of applications. The platform's clean sheet design allows the best battery pack placement and lower center of gravity resulting in higher payload to range ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to last mile refrigerated deliveries and catering applications. The refrigerated trucks in class 4 with a single wall structure inside and higher insulation than conventional trucks, enable seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer lifespan. The EV Star REEFERX offers superior capacity for cargo and an industry leading payload to range ratio that is ideal for zero emission passenger transport and goods.

GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system. This will allow fleets to seamlessly transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW.

We had the chance to test the EV9 for a few hours on a local highway and found it easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The ride is smooth and smooth over bumps and ruts, while the EV9 is a master of reducing road noise and wind on the highway. The acceleration is surprisingly quick, and the car comes with adjustable regenerative braking that allows "one pedal driving" by taking off the accelerator.

The EV9 has a wide range and can be charged in three hours or less at home, or with any commercial charger. Drivers can select between two modes of operation including eco mode and sports mode. The eco mode is a preference for the cruise control and torque and the sport mode increases speed and Green Power Scooters handling. Both modes are fun to drive and offer a unique experience for those who have never been in a vehicle with an electrical system before.

In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other electric vehicles, including a multi-purpose electric power scooters mini bus, called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be utilized as an executive shuttle, transit or micro-transit vanpool, bus or paratransit vehicle.

GreenPower is currently producing around 10 EV Star buses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric vehicles. With the Biden Administration aiming to electrify school buses nationwide, GreenPower plans on ramping production to meet the demand. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be Altoona-tested and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant and ADA compliant. This makes them eligible for federal transit grants. Keep an eye on us as we follow the AV Star on its demonstration tour later this year. We will give more details about this EV that is truly innovative!
