What is a bedside cot?
A bedside crib (also called bassinet or co-sleeper) is a small baby cot that attaches to your adult bed, allowing your newborn to sleep comfortably next to you. It is a safe method of co-sleeping, which doesn't increase your risk of SIDS, like bedsharing. It can also help you bond with your new baby.
These cots have an end that can be lowered to allow you to reach your baby easily at night to comfort and feed them. This is particularly beneficial for mothers who are recovering from a c-section. Many of them are foldable or portable, so you can take them on your travels and use them as a temporary sleep solution for newborns who aren't yet ready to move into a cot that is full size.
Choose a crib that has an air-conditioned mattress, as well as an appropriate cover to shield your baby from staining. You might also want to buy baby-safe accessories such as a blanket or teether.
If you are seeking a long-term solution cribs are available with conversion kits that let you transform them into a toddler bed or cot at the time that is right. This can extend their lifespan and make the transition easier. Some models have a removable portion at the top that can be converted into the bassinet. Others can be used in conjunction with a standard adult bed or a high-rise bed. This is an excellent choice for families that are planning to travel frequently or switch between bedrooms in the evening. Take into consideration the dimensions of your bedroom to ensure that you fit in the crib comfortably. Many cribs come with an incline that can be added to create an incline for babies with reflux.

They are known for their high-end baby products English brand Joie has stepped into the world of cheap bedside cot cribs with the Roomie Glide. Designed to help parents bond with their children while sleeping together without sharing a bed this co-sleeper is packed with features that make bonding between parents and babies easy, safe and enjoyable.
A smooth, steady rocking motion could be initiated by pressing the button. This can soothe baby into sleep with a gentle rhythm that doesn't disrupt their normal sleeping pattern. This is ideal for older babies and toddlers who struggle to settle. It can help with digestive issues such as reflux and colic.
The crib can be locked in place once the rocking is finished to stop it from moving and can also be secured on the bed's side by clips and straps. This makes the crib solid and secure and allows you to sleep comfortably without fearing that your child will slide off into the middle. The round shape of the cocoon has soft padding on the sides and double mesh windows at both ends. This allows for airflow while keeping your baby safe.
The included mattress is comfortable and firm. It includes a washable cover. The crib is easy to put together and take down thanks to the lightweight aluminum frame that makes it very portable. The four rubber-covered wheels lockable ensure that the crib will not leave marks on your flooring and are easy to move. Anna found the CoZee to be a safe, comfortable place to sleep for her infant. It was a pleasure to not move like other models so she didn't wake up in the night trying to comfort her child for feedings. She also loved that the sides of the chair lowered so she didn't need to reach over her partner in order to carry the child out for nighttime feedings.
The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and is a beautiful addition to the bedroom. It looks more designer than other cribs we've tried and are typically utilitarian. It's also fairly light at just 11kg and comes with a carrying case which allows you to take it with you on holiday or if moving house. The only additional items you'll need to buy are a fitted waterproof sheet and a safety strap for co-sleeping. The instructions and images are simple to follow once you open the box.
The Maxi-Cosi Lora
The Iora is an infant bassinet designed to help parents feel closer to their baby as they sleep. It can be adjusted up and down and moved to three different slide positions, to fit beside the bed of the parent or in the corner, to ensure that the infant is always in reach. The breathable mesh siding allows air to flow through, and gives you a quick glance at your baby. You can also store more pajamas and other supplies in the large storage basket beneath.
The Iora is a smaller bedside co sleeper cot cot for bedside that can fold flat. It also comes with a travel case which allows it to be taken anywhere. It was easy to move around from room to room, and our mom testers thought it was the perfect size for a bedside crib. The large storage basket is ideal for storing extra bedding or nappies.
This is an excellent choice for parents who are looking to sleep in a co-sleeping arrangement but do not want to share their own beds or whose partners may be prone to mobility issues, such as arthritis or back pain. Our mum testers loved the ease with which they could access their baby in the Iora and that it had an option to have a reflux incline which helped to reduce gas.
Our moms also love the fact that it meets NICE guidelines that state to put the baby in a crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys, pillows, etc). The mattress is also firm and comfortable for babies and sheets are easily available. It's not as light as the other cribs for bedside use, though, so if you want something lighter and easier to move around, think about one of the alternatives on our list.
