World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to boost the gear score of an item up to 700 and also add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory and heading to the kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd to benefit from their unique stats (like perfect made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while others like weapons don't change much post upgrade, so they aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. They also have a flat bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. Additionally there are many weapons with a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a single unit. This bonus could exceed the damage a weapon upgrade alone can do.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is contingent on its rarity as well as its current level. For example the weapon with a +2 rating will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade the gun will increase until it requires a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgrades to weapons can also alter the stats of the base. While this is generally beneficial but it can also have negative consequences too. Upgrades can render items unusable, unless you are very lucky.
Armor items can be upgraded to increase their stats. This can increase the defense of a chest or helm, while belts and gloves will boost their required strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it can sometimes roll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain when upgrading, along with the values of these stats. This means that an upgrade from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11 attack-damage sword will result in a weapon gaining 3% of attack damage. The 3% does not mean that the weapon will hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.
Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button within the Best item upgrader menu, using the arrows that circle. The Best item upgrade will be rerolled and alter its stats, but it will not reset the weapon's level or connect it to an account's status.
Armor
A few tweaks to your armor can make a huge differences in your capacity to withstand. Certain sets provide massive boosts to poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which makes the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. Generally speaking, the more defense your character is, the more value you get out of each point of health, so it's important to upgrade your armor as often as you can.
To upgrade your armor, head to one of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four fountains in all each of which requires you to complete a unique side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed the main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels and the amount of materials and Rupees required for each level will differ. You'll need anywhere from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade your first armor piece, and anywhere between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a large group of adversaries in most cold climates, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, giving you enough protection to survive a full on raid with a few of your friends.
Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll need to work on enhancing it to increase physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power if you're a Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll wear at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear to fight the final boss, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also gain benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to beat the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be useful to have a few upgrades of the chest armor and helmets to allow you to stealth around certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that, when consumed by the participant, produce the player with a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five types of potions that have different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, enhancing their effectiveness. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by adding redstone dust and glowstone dust.
Potion upgrades cost a specific amount of XP, which can be earned by crafting them using a craft table or the chest of the Alchemist. The cost of upgrading varies based on the type of potion and the Best item upgrade's rarity as well as Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion, click right on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI that lets you select the potion you wish to upgrade, and the amount of experience they will offer when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time, and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.
Once a potion is upgraded, it will not be degraded until you use it again, or break the bottle it's stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will allow you to change its name.
There were a few changes to the mechanics of potions in version 1.7.2. For instance the splash potions now have the duration of 0:08 (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds displayed on the hover display of the item upgrader kit). The table of potion now made of four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It is now able to be utilized in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons like Java Edition. Additionally, using a potentio on a full cauldron drains the potion and replenishes the bottle.
Lastly, there are now lingering potions, which are made with splash and dragon breath potions. Similarly, a lingering potions effect can be extended by adding redstone to it. The potion table has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added like the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be described as a small and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to a piece of art or a decoration that serves a function but is not particularly important, such as a thimble. In certain traditions, trinkets are used to symbolize affection or friendship, specifically between family members.
Trinkets can be upgraded by players in addition to weapons and armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items trinkets, trinkets can be exchanged at will without losing their status.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available with tokens, gold or fragments of trinkets that are rare.
Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to buying a brand new trinket. You can upgrade their trinket for just 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same level of base as the previous trinket however, it will also come with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded once they're no longer useful, allowing a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondaries, and finally other items of gear they won't replace soon (for example an earring or cloak). Players should also take into consideration their class's preferred stats when selecting which items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to tank players, then they should upgrade their chest, helm and shoulders.
Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher ilvl after they no longer have value and the new trinket will have an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading. Re-upgrading can cause damage to the trinket unless it can be saved using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still cheaper than buying the new one.
