Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The process of upgrading an item upgrader, often called "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stat linearly.
Players can recycle six items at one time to get a gauge of the upgraded component of each item upgrades. The cost of recycling items scales with their rarity and item level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats on your weapon and armor. This can be achieved through various methods such as using upgrade components as well as upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. In addition there are many items that can be reforged, which can increase their stats.
Upgradeable items are available throughout the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. Upgrade components are the main method to upgrade equipment. These are the items that slot into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and most require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while other components offer a general bonus.
There are many types of upgrade elements available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments, can be put in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than those that are type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools. They provide a variety bonuses, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing extra crafting material.
To upgrade an item, select it in your inventory, then open the upgrade item window. The window will show an overview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected stats will be after the upgrade, and any materials or components required. The Upgrade button at the bottom will be labeled as blocked if you don't have enough of either.
The amount of upgrade components required for a specific item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of upgrading increases with the level and rarity of the item increases. However, you can reduce this cost by purchasing upgrades from a merchant or trading them with other players.
Many weapons can be improved with a prefix, such as a rune, or an insignia. Other weapons can be improved with a suffix. These upgrades add an adjective to the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be a powerful tool for communicating visual information. They animate in order to grab the attention of the viewer and stimulate curiosity. The glyphs' animation mimics the body language, making them more effective in conveying the message of a language barrier. Glyphs also improve the retention of a message by evoking a familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph has a set of values that it could enhance a stat, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This isn't the exact amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum amount it can increase a stat. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you are enchanting it to.
Most upgrade components inserted into items are not able to be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you do have an unusable rune or glyph that hasn't yet been added to your gear, you can move it to a different piece gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you wish to remove the glyph from an item then you'll need to salvage it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will destroy the item within which it is placed however, you can salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its shards, therefore, it shouldn't be considered as a loss.
When you remove an item after adding a glyph, the shards that are part of that glyph will disappear. You can also apply an inscription to your equipment to give it a bonus. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly instead of all at one time. This is helpful for those who take a lot damage from their enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens permit players to alter the affixes they use on their weapons and equipment and can be found through a variety of methods, including in mistery boxes or as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with a random affix that is usually better than what they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade weapon stats for more damage or bonuses.
Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the upgrade menu, but they still qualify to receive upgrades. If you click the "upgrade button" you can recycle the recycled items. This will alter the layout of the item's window and let up to six items be selected to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item upgrader mod. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, which means items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower level ones.
In addition to tokens for rerolls, players can make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the weapon traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls are based on a % chance for a weapon's trait. If it scores higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolls are a great option to upgrade an item, but users should be aware that it could reduce the overall ilvl the weapon based on the number of rerolls required to increase it to its final ilvl. This lowering effect is most effective on Diadems and rings that don't have alternatives to raise their ilvls.
Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's more fair to allow people to pay for it with cash or food items that allows them to make changes to their builds without having to spend excessive amounts of time. The developers do not plan to introduce paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. Instead, they plan to add an option to change the race in the future.
Leveling
There are many ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount that increases the value of an upgrade for any stat. The second is to boost the upgrade effect, which increases the damage or heal of a given stat. In addition there is the possibility to upgrade the base item to an upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel, but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
When you upgrade items it is essential to keep in mind that upgrades are random. In most cases a better roll is based on the glyphs. However there are instances when a more or unique roll may occur. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or exclusive item to a special kind of item, it's likely to getting a higher level.
Upgrades to items can be costly, particularly when you're upgrading an item of gear from the normal to the legendary track. The cost of upgrading an item will be contingent on the iLevel it's built upon as well as the amount of upgrade levels. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests to get to the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky the upgraded item will reach the highest level of its upgrade track, and will unlock an additional bonus effect. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased a value of +3.
The iLevel can also change according to the upgrade path and base level. For instance an item upgraded from a rare or unique item to an exceptional one will have the chance to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
