World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like crit chance and PvE damage.
For example an item with the upgrade template that ends in % will suffer 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or an extra effect. They can be acquired through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before the component can be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, which alters the name of the item it is used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of that equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of the weapon or armor. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear or by purchasing them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher tier version of the item will be dropped during the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.
If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly, and there is a high risk that the item may be obsolete or even break when it fails. A failed upgrade will destroy Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to double or even eliminate the possibility of failure, as well as some upgrades that provide a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in a radius around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.
You will often find in the final game that placing Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your gear. These are the only upgrade component which can be upgraded to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.
Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt by using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a particular range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will boost the overall value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
When you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
Glyphs will boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is recommended to place Glyphs in strategic locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids, for example should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may be able to place them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The item upgrade system allows players to boost the stats of specific items by inserting upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385. Each level of an item requires a different number of components and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets upgraded.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be bought from NPCs, or on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item, and when enough points have been earned, the upgrade items will be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When an individual player upgrade an item it will be replaced with a new item. The same armor will be upgraded to a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item upgrader kit will have its own set bonus. This can be a downside, as the item can become more expensive even if you don't need it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do so. The Best item upgrade will be replaced with a brand new one that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be useful however it should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). The item can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item can be very valuable in PvP, as an item that is properly rolled it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its non-upp'd value.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to boost the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate currency and items to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces improve the strength of their base defense and upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear that can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it is at risk of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to return to its original condition which means that the player has to purchase more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar on its growth bar will reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with the effect (for example, increased heal over time or reload speed). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it increases its crit chance, the increase will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. Slots is a brand new attribute that has been added to the definitions of items. The value is recalculated every time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have an incredibly lower cost for each upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. The player will need to take each piece of gear they wish to upgrade to NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of the ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the expenses listed above.
