The best robot cleaner Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They have motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or in school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic hoover bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has an exemplary 10/10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and drys mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you have a lot furniture. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum cleaner reviews vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
