Path of Exile Item Upgrading
The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes that boost the base stats of the item upgrader kit or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Items that have weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into stronger bases. Items with strong bases, like Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors, trinkets, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute bonus or extra effect, while the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, found as loot by enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade an item of armor, the user must choose it and click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.
There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear and legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding the word Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor will change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades for gathering tools If a player replaces one glyph with a different one the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from the previous versions. Gear is now classified into tracks and each item can be upgraded as many times before it is "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials needed do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the effect of these items rather than spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.
If an item is completed, it will be eligible for a new set of upgrade components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets at 0 if the upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level, it will be able to receive affixes that will enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the type of item upgrader it is. For example an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will have no more than two affixes available for it, while legendary armors will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade process requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level and in what slot it is located in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC will give players the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower success rate.
Engineers will use a level in order to measure the height of the building against a known point, such as the benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are built to a high standard of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can dramatically increase the strength of an item, damage, or other attributes. You can do this via the menu for items, or by pressing the Reroll button whenever you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be done sparingly.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The cost and rarity of upgrading an item upgrade will determine the amount of level that has been filled.
In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other items. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction statistics that were controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each stat. This can be either good or bad, based on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can have a unique bonus that increases the power of the item by a fixed percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to standard affixes. The more you improve a product, the greater your chances of receiving a unique bonus.
The game also comes with number set that grants a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an item level upgrade. This is a great way to give the character more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling can offer a quicker path to a powerful character, allowing them to reach higher levels and progress in the game faster.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can be different dimensions, have none of the elements, or have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be categorized in several ways, including by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an array of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already extensive.
Some set items are upgraded for their own unique functions which can be useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level with their levels. For example the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can improve their defense, and improve their performance when it comes to damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item upgrades and the required items to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its features, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. For example the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, armor and weapons have higher value when they are fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related upgrading them to gold is recommended because it will result in a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense of armor with a newer appearance.
