WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an Best item upgrader by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.
The upgraded gear typically has a more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or a very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item however they'll always be cheaper than buying new equipment. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgrader kit (Read the Full Piece of writing) upgraders in a variety of currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will display an item upgrading's preview at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.
Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and several new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items are from an entirely different set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is account-wide. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. They can make use of Flightstones which are a general upgrade currency that is accessible to everyone players, or crests, which are more specialized and are used to upgrade specific levels of items. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that crests are only available for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, which involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it will bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once an item level upgrade is at the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade gear you have available, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
