World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to increase an item's gear score up to 700 and also add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you decide to take them to the Kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading due to their unique stats. (For example an excellently broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items, like weapons aren't changed much after an upgrade and therefore aren't worth the effort.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats, such as crit chance, attack damage PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. Some weapons also have an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a unit. In some instances, this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage that a weapon can sustain by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the quality of the weapon and its current level. For example, an +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will increase until it needs a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons will also change the stats of the base. While this is usually an excellent thing however, it could have negative consequences as well. For items that only see use in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example), upgrading them may render them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll.
The ability to upgrade armor items to increase their effectiveness. This will increase the defense of a helm or chest as well as belts and gloves. These can boost their strength and agility. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percentage, which means that it may roll back to a lower number.
The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats that it will gain when upgraded and their relative values. This means that a weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will be hit for 3 fewer times because it's an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows in the item menu. This will reroll the item upgrade and change its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's level or bind to account status.
Armor
A few armor upgrades can make a huge difference to your survivability. Certain sets can offer massive improvements in the resistance to curses, poisons, fire, and magic. This makes it easier to traverse difficult areas. In general, the greater defense you have on your character, the more health you will receive from each point. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains in the game and to unlock them all, you have to complete an additional quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed your main quest and the corresponding fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.
The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. You'll require anything between three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for example can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to remain competitive in cold environments with a large group of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you can survive a raid with friends.
Note that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll have to work on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power in the case of Mage. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll wear at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear to fight the final boss as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.
You can also get some benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to beat the game. For instance, the Longsword or Battleaxe. It's nevertheless beneficial to have some upgrades to the helmets and chest armor to allow you to sneak around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquid substances that, when consumed give the player the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five types of potions, each with different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to enhance their effectiveness. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.
Potion upgrades require a certain amount of XP. This can be earned through crafting them on a crafting table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. However, the cost of upgrading changes depending on what type of potion you want to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and Rarity.
To upgrade item a potions, right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open an GUI which allows you to select the potion you wish to upgrade, and the amount of experience they'll offer when upgraded. The upgrade of potions can be completed in batches of up to five at a time, and the XP that they generate will be added to your current XP total.
Once a potion is upgraded and stored, it will not degrade until you use it again or break the bottle within the container it is stored. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will allow you to change the name of the potion.
There were a few changes to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. For instance, splash potions now have an average duration of 0.08 seconds (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds displayed on the hover display of the item upgrader kit). The table of potion constructed from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons like Java Edition. Similarly, using a potion on a full cauldron, it drains the liquid and refills the bottle.
Lastly, there are now lingering potions, which are brewed with splash and dragon breath potions. In the same way, a lingering potion' effect is extended by adding redstone to it. The table of potion ingredients has been rearranged to appear more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added, such as the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket is a tiny and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also refer to an ornament or object that serves a function but is not important such as a thimble. In some traditions, trinkets are used to signify affection or friendship, particularly between family members.
Players can upgrade trinkets as well as weapons and armor, as well as potions. They can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. Trinkets unlike other items that can be upgraded, can be traded at will without losing stats.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are offered using tokens, gold, or fragments from a rare trinket.
The upgrade of a trinket can be an affordable alternative to buying an entirely new one. It can be done by the player for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the previous trinket but it also comes with an additional 1% bonus upgrade.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded once they're not needed, allowing a player to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded between players which makes them a good alternative to gold.
Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondary items and finally, other items of gear they will not be replacing soon (for instance rings or cloaks). When choosing which items to upgrade players should consider the preferred statistics of their class. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to a tank player, then they should upgrade their helm, chest and shoulders.
After they've become unusable, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The upgraded trinket will give you an additional bonus of 1. A re-upgrade, however, will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, but is still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
