World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it can boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests Each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item upgrade's base stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high dependent on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to how many perks have to be replaced to allow the item level upgrade to get upgraded.
The level of an item is a widely used measurement of power and is visible on all tooltips of items. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at lower levels. The average item level can be found in the character sheet.
Using the item level can help players compare the strength of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's an excellent indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it is capable of causing. The item level can also be used to compare items when examining a vendor's inventory.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full description of the item, as well as its value. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are a variety of theories on how the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula that calculates how much an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration the fact that various perks have different value, and also that gems in sockets increase the item's overall value. This can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to Blizzard's real level of the item.
This isn't the only factor that affects the level of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For example, it could increase the item's haste or crit score. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher ilvl.
Item Stats
Item stats can make or break an item for players. The game utilizes them in many ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The stat modifications of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's skill.
Upgrades to an item may increase the stats of an item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, while an item with the rare tiers can be upgraded many times at higher prices.
Affixes are a different method to change an item's stats. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. Affixes can be used to give the item additional damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down the cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an exclusive name to the item.
Currently, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade item window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and other items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.
Players can upgrade an item by a specific stat or reroll the affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item will have at least one stat within that range unless they are an item upgrading that is unique, or the item is a God Roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attachments, or pick which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be gained or lost at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player increases the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is more beneficial in early game runs because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. It is also possible to be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn by using the Luck property, with a default value of 40. These items can then be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant a further +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item, up to 140.
Moreover there are certain items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be used to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items can be purchased in the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their items if it is not successful.
The success rate of an upgrade can be seen in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations on the extent to which success rates can be increased and the chance of an upgrade failing can't be greater than 100%..
The luck of an item can influence the success of an upgrade. All items have a success rate of 25 percent, and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be obscured by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
