World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.
If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will increase 3percent of its previous attack damage every time it's upgraded.
Best item upgrade upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to provide an additional stat boost or effect while they're in use. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level for a component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could include a suffix or prefix, modifying the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for instancethe "Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to make stronger versions of the equipment using fewer Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade through normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defence attributes of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals each.
The player can get up to five boost upgrades at one time; each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of the item will be available in the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear, even if they are unsure what will be improved after the reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it's possible that the item will be obsolete or even break if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items to double or even eliminate possibility of failure, and some upgrades that provide the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes within a radius around them as well as existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as you can to level 15.
You'll often see in the endgame that placing Glyphs is a great way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and offer a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes much faster.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs You will have to put them on your gear. Each Glyph will grant a distinct bonus that can boost the stats of a particular set of nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is recommended to place Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For example an Druid should aim to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, but also consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.
Leveling
The item upgrading system lets players increase the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is commonly known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has a level that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each level of item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or bought from NPCs. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to level up the item, and when enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When a player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a different item of the same kind. This means that the same armor piece will get an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will also have its own set bonus. This can be a downside since the item may increase in price even if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. The item upgrader will be replaced by an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This is a good idea, but should not be used frequently as it can be a waste of resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times to increase their value, allows the player to modify their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or does not swim as a dolphin). This can be upgraded several times, each time increasing the max roll by a factor of 10. This item upgrader mod can be very useful in PvP battles, since a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50 times its non-upp'd value.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to increase the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by offering the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrading armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the piece, whereas upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, with the exception of hero gear which can be upgraded up to eight times. Each each time you upgrade an item, it has a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the more you exceed the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original state and the player having to pay for more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item is not able to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained, such as the chance to crit damage to attack, other effects (such as increased heal over time, or the speed of reloading). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon gains a crit chance increase that it will be applied prior to any damage to attack increases. Slots is a brand new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For example, a common equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items will have a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from normal equipment. For example, they may need fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. However, players will have to visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. Each equipment upgrade requires different amounts of ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the expenses that are listed above.
