Item upgrades allow players to increase the level of armor and weapons that can be equipped. This boosts the stats of that equipment, and also sometimes adding buffs or rerolling an affix.

The upgrade system for items in World of Warcraft provides players with the ability to upgrade the level of armor, weapons, and trinkets. This process is similar to gear reforging process in Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor. However, instead of using currency, players have to visit an item upgrader to complete the process.
