However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our first option. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles like pet hair. 3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to put up with a little more noise and some additional cost this is a capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to how dirty they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot vacuum cleaners uk on which part of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also gives access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
