WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you an increase in specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random substat is also added to every upgrade.
Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item level upgrade items (click through the up coming article) upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade items will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that are used to level up weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will display a preview of the item upgrade at its next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Many locations have upgraders for their items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and the chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no item upgrader mod upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require a variety of means which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features have been added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if the items come from an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you should know that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type or equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader equipment you have and save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which will only be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
